Divya Mittal IAS is one of the most dynamic IAS officers of the 2012 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Her academic career, IIT, IIM, and then UPSC accompanied by her bureaucratic career is an inspiration for many aspirants.

Divya Mittal IAS Family

Divya Mittal was born on 23 November 1983 in New Delhi. Her family belongs to Rewari district in Haryana. Details of her parents are not available in the public domain. As per UPSC details, her home district is New Delhi.

Divya Mittal Education

After 12th, Divya Mittal cleared the IIT JEE engineering entrance exam and did BTech in Engineering Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) from 2001-2005. After graduation, she did a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM equivalent to MBA) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) from 2005 to 2007. Later in 2019-20, she did a course on Micromasters (Data, Economics, and Development Policy) from MITx on edX.

In 2007, after finishing the post-graduate from IIM Bangalore she joined JP Morgan and was posted in London, UK.

Divya Mittal Marriage

Divya Mittal met Gagandeep Singh Dhillon and married him on 6 April 2007.

Gagandeep Singh Dhillon family belonged to Giddarbagh, in Bathinda, Punjab. Gagandeep Singh Dhillon did a BTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi from 1998 to 2002. Then he pursued Management at IIM Bangalore from 2003 to 2005.

Gagandeep Singh Dhillon was also preparing for the civil services examination. After marriage Gagandeep motivated Divya Mittal to prepare for civil services examination along with him. In 2009, Divya Mittal returned to India and started to prepare for the exam along with her husband Gagandeep Singh Dhillon.

Divya Mittal IAS Husband Name

Divya Mittal’s husband’s name is Gagandeep Singh Dhillon. Gagandeep Singh also took the Civil Services Exam and cleared in the first attempt in 2010 and got IAS Allied services – Indian Trade Services. However, based on the sources, Gagandeep Singh resigned from the services in May 2022.

Civil Services Exam and Divya Mittal IAS

Divya Mittal gave her first attempt in 2010 with Economics, and Management as optional subjects (until 2012 there were two optional subjects in the Mains Exam). She cleared the exam secured Rank 332 and was allocated IRS(IT).

Next year, in 2011, Divya Mittal took her second attempt with the same optional subjects. She improved her rank and got Rank 134 and was allocated IPS and Gujarat cadre.

Divya Mittal knew her potential and had a clear vision to be an IAS officer. On her third attempt, she changed the optional subjects and took the exam in Economics and Commerce. She secured Rank 68 and was allocated IAS with the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

In July 2022, Divya Mittal IAS who was posted as District Magistrate (DM) of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, shared on Twitter her insider tips for passing the entrance exams for the Institutes of Technology (IIT), Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), and UPSC.

According to Divya Mittal, to achieve their goals and give their preparation for the IIT, IIM, and UPSC top priority, one must remain committed and motivated. Every week, review your phone usage and the apps you use.

Divya Mittal also discussed the benefits of early morning study sessions. She says that study for 90 to 120 minutes straight with a 15-minute break in between to sharpen her attention. Additionally, Divya Mittal advised aspirants to try the Trata meditation technique, which entails focusing on one object in order to increase concentration.
Divya Mittal added, “Get close to nature – go to a park and walk/sit, get some sunlight even if for 5–10 minutes. Exercise, preferably outside, at least a 20-minute walk.”
