Sonal Goel IAS Family, Early Life and Education
Sonal Goel, an accomplished IAS officer, was born on June 10, 1984, and hails from Panipat, Haryana. Her father, Shri Ishwar Chand Goel is a CA (Chartered Accountant) by profession. Her mother Smt. Renu Goel who has been acting as a support system for the family is a Homemaker. Her father Shri Ishwar Chand Goel died on 24 October 2023.
She pursued her early education at DAV Public School in Delhi, excelling academically throughout her formative years. She went on to graduate from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, where she earned a B.Com (Hons) degree. She is also a C.S. (Company Secretary) from ICSI, New Delhi, which augments her expertise in Finance and Commerce.
Furthering her education, she completed an LLB from the University of Delhi and did LLM from Kurukshetra University. These adds perspective to her jurisprudence profile.
She also holds a masters degree in Public Policy from IGNOU making it a perfect combination of administration, law and policymaking.
She has worked in the Corporate sector as Company Secretary & Legal Advisor for around 3 years.

Sonal Goel is married to Mr. Aditya Yadav, who is also civil servant. Mr. Aditya Yadav is IRS (C & IT). She is blessed with two children.

Sonal’s journey to the Indian Administrative Service began with her determination to serve the nation. Despite not succeeding on her first attempt in 2006, her perseverance paid off in her second attempt in 2008, when she secured an impressive All India Rank 13 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2008.
She joined Tripura Cadre with 4 years Inter-cadre deputation to Haryana and has held various significant positions since then.

“I just want to share with the aspirants that in my first attempt, I fell short of getting an Interview call due to low marks in the General Studies papers in Mains.
However, this setback fueled my determination to leave no stone unturned in achieving my goal #UPSCI then devoted myself entirely to mastering the General Studies paper and improving at other aspects of Mains emphasizing on Notes making , repeated revisions and #AnswerWriting”.
